The other day I received a challenge to answer the questions: “Who are you?” and “Why are you here?” This made me think back on my story of becoming a psychotherapist which I’ve never really got to share on my profiles before.
Bear with me find out the whole story of how I became a psychotherapist.
I love the “who are you?” question. It’s my way of recalibrating myself back on my path whenever distracted by life. It reminds me of my journey, my principles, my destiny and that, no matter what, the only thing I’ll ever have and that cannot ever be taken away from me is: myself.
I’m all about “who am I” and I’ve always been. So much that I’ve never ever enjoyed (or even understood) costume parties.
To answer the questions about who I am and why I am here, I am an existential psychotherapist, an educator, a curious traveller and a lover of life. Although I didn’t always know what being a psychotherapist will actually look like in the end, I’ve always known I was going to be one. My story of becoming a psychotherapist started very soon after I was born. In fact, when I was only eight months old my great grandmother gave the verdict on my destiny: “This is the happiest child I’ve ever met and she was born to make others happy too.” Around eight years later, I wanted to decide what I was going to be when I was going to grow up. But for real, I didn’t mean a Disney princess or an astronaut (though I’m pretty sure I could have been those too if I really wanted to). I ran a series of consultations in the family. No one took me serious, though I was, except for grandma who asked: “What makes you feel good when you do it?” And I said: “I like making people happy. I cannot stand seeing people being sad.” And that was it, it was clear for grandma that her mother predicted well so she recommended: “You should then be a psychologist.”
And this is how I became a therapist.
Here I am now, doctor in psychology and psychotherapy. My passion is in supporting people finding their true identity and fulfilling their destinies which to me is the surest way to experience happiness and loving life. That is why I am specialised in joy of living and self-identity. 🦋💚✨
